OLIVIA NICOL, PhD

About
I am passionate about helping clients expand their problem-solving and leadership skills.
My executive training approach was built by using my 15 year of global academic experience developing cutting-edge courses for professionals and students. I received 3 teaching awards from The University of Melbourne and from Columbia University in New York in recognition of the exceptional quality of my courses.
I received my PhD in sociology from Columbia University in New York, and then held academic positions at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), set up in collaboration with the MIT in Singapore, and at the University of Melbourne.
I am a certified trainer for Thomas Wedell-Wedellsborg in the Asia-Pacific region using the reframing method (https://howtoreframe.wordpress.com). The reframing method, featured in Harvard Business Review, allows teams to quickly understand if they are focusing on the right issues before jumping into action.
I like to constantly expand my horizons to better understand the challenges faced by business and society. In addition to sociology, my academic background includes business, psychology, communication, and public policy.
I grew up in the United States, Spain, Venezuela and my native France. I speak French, English and Spanish fluently, all of them with a foreign accent. I live in Melbourne with my Australian family and Japanese dog.
